The Federation of Municipalities of the Region of Murcia welcomed students from IES Ingeniero de la Cierva, accompanied by a group of students from Hungary, as part of the European Green Citizens of Tomorrow project, developed under the Erasmus+ programme.

During the visit, the Federation shared with the students and teachers from the English Department the main results of several European projects linked to sustainability, climate adaptation and environmental protection. Special attention was given to the HEATSAFE project, funded by the Interreg Euro-MED programme, which focuses on prevention and adaptation to the effects of extreme heat in Mediterranean municipalities.
The visit helped bring young people closer to the role of local authorities in the fight against climate change, as well as the importance of promoting innovative and collaborative solutions at municipal level. In addition to HEATSAFE, the Federation also presented experiences developed through projects such as LIFE GreenMe5, LIFE CityAdap3 and Med-Hubs.
The Federation encouraged the students to take on an active role as the next generation of European citizens committed to the environment, leading sustainable actions and becoming an example on the European green map.
Through this type of initiative, the Federation of Municipalities reaffirms its commitment to environmental education, European cooperation and youth involvement in building more sustainable, resilient municipalities that are better prepared to face climate challenges.
