PARTNERS MEETING in Barcelona, Spain

The HEATSAFE project partners will gather in Barcelona on 20–21 November 2025 for a two-day partnership meeting hosted by the Barcelona Metropolitan Area (AMB). The meeting will bring together project partners and experts to review progress, coordinate upcoming activities, and strengthen collaboration across the consortium.

The first day will take place at the AMB Headquarters and will focus on strategic coordination and project implementation. Partners will review key developments across the project’s work packages, including the analysis of existing heatwave response strategies, the development of vulnerability heat maps, stakeholder engagement, and the identification of mitigation measures. Discussions will also address the progress of Local Action Plans and the implementation of climate shelters as part of HEATSAFE’s immediate response to extreme heat events. In addition, AMB’s Climate Action department will present the background, governance, and recent developments of the Metropolitan Network of Climate Shelters, providing valuable insights for partners working on local adaptation measures.

The second day will include a technical field visit to Cornellà de Llobregat, where participants will explore two climate shelters that are part of the metropolitan network: the Centre Cívic Sant Ildefons and the Canal de la Infanta Park at CITILAB. The visit will allow partners to see practical examples of heat-adaptation infrastructure and discuss how similar approaches can be replicated in other HEATSAFE pilot territories. The meeting will conclude with a coordination session on next steps for the project and future activities within the Interreg Euro-MED programme.

This partnership meeting will be an important milestone for consolidating progress, exchanging knowledge, and reinforcing cooperation among HEATSAFE partners as they work together to improve resilience to extreme heat across Mediterranean territories.
