Hosted by the Barcelona Metropolitan Area (AMB), the meeting covered key topics including the review of existing heatwave response strategies, vulnerability mapping, governance structures, mitigation measures, and the development of Local Action Plans. Partners also discussed communication progress, financial updates, and insights from recent Interreg Europe sessions.
The programme included a presentation on the Metropolitan Climate Shelters Network, highlighting its governance model and recent developments. On the second day, participants visited two climate shelters in Cornellà de Llobregat — the Sant Ildefons Civic Centre and the Canal de la Infanta Park — showcasing practical examples of urban adaptation to extreme heat.
The meeting concluded with a review of next steps, reinforcing the consortium’s commitment to developing effective tools and strategies that help European cities protect their residents during heatwaves.
